USA BEAT ITALY

The United States national football team has been one of the most outstanding and most improved in recent seasons.

They surprised everyone with their quality at the Confederations Cup in South Africa and also at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

Now, they have taken their football to the next level after beating 2006 World Cup in Italy in a recent friendly match. Clint Dempsey has been one of the major performers for the United States national football team. He once again stepped up to the plate as he helped the United States national football team to beat Italy 1-0. This is the first victory for the United States over Italy in more than 11 games played over a span of 78 years.

Clint Dempsey scored the only goal of the game after putting a firm right foot shot past the Italian and Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. This result would sound is a major achievement for the United States national football team, which recently appointed former Bayern Munich and Germany manager Jurgen Klinsmann as their coach.

Even though former coach Bob Bradley had done a great job with the team, the football Association realised that they needed someone with top-level experience. This result comes as a major plus for Jurgen Klinsmann ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.

“It’s historic for us beating a team of Italy’s level. If you beat Italy on their own soil then that means a lot. … Obviously as a coach you’re pleased because you see them progressing, you see young players stepping up and playing against these amazing, experienced Italian players who have won the World Cup and played big tournaments year in and year out,” Klinsmann said after the match. Klinsmann also gave Terrence Boyd his debut for the national team in this match.
