USA MIDFIELDER SET FOR UCL START

USA midfielder Weston McKennie is in line to make his first start in this season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL). The young box-to-box midfielder is set to be a part of the Juventus XI for the first time in the Champions League this season ahead of the matchdayfour clash with Hungarian side Ferencvaros at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday night.

Before now, the USA midfielder has featured in two Champions League games and they were both as a second half substitute. Weston McKennie missed out on the Champions League opener at Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv due to the fact that he tested positive for Covid-19. On matchday 2, he came on for Swedish international DejanKulusevski with 15 minutes left of the meeting with Spanish La Liga giants at the Juventus Stadium. He could not prevent his team from losing 2-0 to Barcelona with Frenchman OusmaneDembele and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi getting the goals for the Spaniards.

United States of America  (USA) playerMcKennie was introduced into the matchday 3 clash with hosts Ferencvaros in Budapest as a 53rd minute replacement for the injured Aaron Ramsey as Juventus thrashed their opponents 4-1. Welshman Aaron Ramsey has not played since that game and Weston McKennie could replace him directly from that squad in the last matchday.

United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) player Weston McKennie is on loan at Juventus for this season. The 22-year-old signed for the Old Lady from Schalke 04 in the German top flight. His opening weeks at Juventus was disrupted by him testing positive for Covid-19 but he has since recovered to be a part of the team led by manager Andrea Pirlo.

Since joining on a season-long loan, Weston McKennie has provided one assist in five games in the league and he’s in line for his third appearance in the Champions League on Tuesday.
